PALM is one of the finalists of the German Sustainability Award

PALM is one of three finalists in the paper, cardboard and paperboard category of the German Sustainability Award. In cooperation with the German Chamber of Industry and Commerce, the Federal Ministry for the Environment and other partners, the German Sustainability Award this year honours companies from 100 industries. PALM is among the TOP 3 companies in this category.

Since the beginning of the company's 151-year history, sustainability has played a significant role for PALM. We are part of a perfect circular economy: our raw material; 100% recovered paper, is processed into high-quality graphic papers and corrugated case material at five locations in Europe. Our 29 corrugated board plants produce sustainable and innovative packaging solutions from corrugated board, which are returned to the cycle as recovered paper after usage.

Thanks to the numerous investments in state-of-the-art technology, resources are sustainably conserved throughout the entire resource cycle at PALM; in the use of 100 % recovered paper for paper production, e.g. with the ultra-modern new PM 5 at the headquarters in Aalen, and also in the further processing of the paper into recyclable packaging. Using particularly lightweight corrugated case materials, which we produce on the new PM 5, we can effectively reduce CO2 emissions along the entire logistics chain by saving raw material and packaging weight.

In addition, we produce our papers and packaging in the most energy-saving and low-emission way possible by using the latest technologies. Palm is the first paper company in the world to be prepared for CO2-neutral paper production with three gas turbines of a newly developed generation that can also run on green hydrogen.
